Description
This video is a Japanese confectionery ASMR video aimed at faithfully conveying the texture and sound of traditional Japanese sweets, "WAGASHI."
This video features "Shihomi Manju," made by Sohonten Kankawa in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. It's a historical tea confectionery made using the salt from the "Banshu Ako Domain," known as the "Land of Salt" since the Edo period. The rakugan dough (white part) is made with finely ground sugar containing wasanbon sugar and kanbai flour (high-quality mochi flour), and it's filled with a sweet and salty strained bean paste flavored with the famous salt of Ako Beach, resulting in a uniquely elegant flavor. Besides white, Shihomi Manju also comes in matcha and red (dyed white) versions. The matcha version will be featured in the next short video.
Shihomi Manju is 1,144 yen (tax included) for a pack of 6. You can purchase it at the main store of Kankawa in Hyogo Prefecture, and you can also order it from their official website. It goes well not only with hot tea, but also with coffee and other beverages, and it's one of my favorite Japanese sweets. I recommend it as a souvenir of Japan.
