Description
During the 2026 edition of the Mugello 12 Hours, the Dinamic Motorsport Maserati MC20 GT2 competed in the GTX category. At the wheel were Italian drivers Roberto and Amedeo Pampanini and Swiss driver Mauro Calamia. The car is designed to compete in various national and international championships that adopt the FIA GT2 class, but, as we know, the lower running costs of GT3s, as well as their admission to major championships such as the FIA WEC and ELMS, have meant that these cars are less frequent on the track. Of course, the Fanatec GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli remains, but personally, I find it too small compared to the variety of competitions in which GT3s are admitted. That said, I was very happy to see this car entered in the Italian endurance race and happy to have filmed it. I hadn't seen a model like this in about two years. Mechanically, it adopts the 3.0-litre "Nettuno" 90° twin-turbo V6 engine, mounted mid-rear and producing approximately 630 hp (463 kW), with output varying based on the category's Balance of Performance (BoP). The gearbox is a racing-grade six-speed sequential gearbox with steering-wheel-mounted paddles and a mechanical self-locking differential, while the road model, from which it inherits a splendid ultra-lightweight carbon fibre monocoque, has an FIA-approved roll bar added. The technical specifications are rounded out by aerodynamics, with an adjustable rear extractor and a front splitter optimised for maximum downforce, while the braking system consists of steel brake discs, and the wheel rims are forged with single-lug nuts. Al volante c'erano i piloti italiani Roberto e Amedeo Pampanini e lo svizzero Mauro Calamia. La vettura è progettata per competere in vari campionati nazionali e internazionali che adottano la classe FIA GT2, ma, come sappiamo, i minori costi di gestione delle GT3, così come la loro ammissione a importanti campionati come il FIA WEC e l'ELMS, hanno fatto sì che queste vetture siano meno frequenti in pista. Certo, la Fanatec GT2 European Series Powered by Pirelli rimane, ma personalmente la trovo troppo limitata rispetto alla varietà di competizioni in cui sono ammesse le GT3. Detto questo, sono stato molto contento di vedere questa vettura iscritta alla gara di durata italiana e felice di averla filmata. Era da circa due anni che non vedevo un modello del genere. Dal punto di vista meccanico, adotta il motore V6 biturbo a 90° "Nettuno" da 3,0 litri, montato in posizione centrale-posteriore e capace di sviluppare una potenza di circa 630 CV (463 kW), soggetta a variazioni in base al Balance of Performance (BoP) della categoria. Il cambio è un sequenziale a sei marce da competizione con palette al volante e differenziale autobloccante meccanico, mentre, già dal modello stradale, eredita una splendida monoscocca ultraleggera in fibra di carbonio, a cui si aggiunge un roll-bar omologato FIA. Le specifiche tecniche sono completate dall'aerodinamica con estrattore posteriore regolabile e splitter anteriore ottimizzato per la massima deportanza, mentre l'impianto frenante è costituito da dischi freno in acciaio e i cerchi delle ruote sono forgiati con monodado.
