Britney Spears arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence

Pop music star Britney Spears was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The arrest happened near her Southern California home. The California Highway Patrol received a nighttime report that someone in a black BMW vehicle was driving fast and erratically. Police said Spears exited the freeway and pulled over. The 44-year-old pop star was the only person in the car. She took a series of field sobriety tests. Spears was booked and released the following morning. Chemical test results are pending and the case remains under investigation.
