Description
A cyclone is on the way, and we're gonna see how the food forest holds up. In this video, I race to harvest as much fruit as possible before the storm arrives, filling wheelbarrows and lightening the load of the trees to hopefully prevent breakage of the fruit tree branches.
After the cyclone passes, we'll take a look at the damage, see how things are holding up and check in with the sheep and turkeys.
With many places in the world facing more regular and intensifying weather events it's increasingly important to see how resilience can be built into food systems, and of course to look out for one another.
My thoughts are with those that have been impacted by climate charged weather events.
As for this one (cyclone Vaianu), it ended up veering more east than expected so the weather in my particular area was less severe than forecasted.

Hi, I'm Kalem, and this channel features all sorts of unusual and exotic fruiting plants with tips of how to successfully grow them. I'm interested in all things gardening and love growing my own food and all types of edible plants.
I live on a 2 acre piece of land in New Zealand where we are turning a grass paddock into and abundant, edible paradise and food forest! So come along on this journey with me as I experiment with growing, and try to push the limits of what I can grow. I'll share with you my successes and failures so hopefully you'll learn from them and have a go yourself! Come learn with me and Subscribe to join this awesome community :)
