Check out this new gameplay reveal from The Defiant (also known as 抵抗者), an upcoming historical first person action stealth shooter set during World War II. Developed in Unreal Engine 5 by Hoothanes Technology, this work-in-progress footage has been provided by 4Divinity and edited by us. Set in China during the 1930s and 1940s, the game explores the Second Sino-Japanese War, bringing a setting that we don’t usually see in modern shooters. It combines cinematic large-scale battles reminiscent of the intense warfare seen in Call of Duty and Battlefield, with more personal story-driven moments. At the same time, it introduces stealth and tactical gameplay elements inspired by 007 First Light, creating a mix of brutal combat and more methodical, infiltration-focused gameplay. *_Description:_* The Defiant takes players into the heart of the Second Sino-Japanese War, portraying the resistance against the Japanese invasion across multiple regions of China. You will fight through devastated villages, occupied cities, and hostile frontlines while uncovering stories of resistance. Along the journey, a loyal companion accompanies you, adding a strong emotional layer to the narrative and reinforcing the human side of war. *_Gameplay Features:_* - Action and Stealth: Combines direct combat with stealth-based gameplay, allowing players to alternate between open firefights and more careful, tactical approaches. - Companion System: A second character accompanies you during the journey, playing a role in both the narrative and moment-to-moment gameplay. - Multiple Locations: The story takes place across different regions of China during the war, including villages, urban areas, and active frontlines. - Historical Setting: Focused on the Second Sino-Japanese War, offering a less commonly explored perspective within World War II. - Authentic Weapons: Features weapons inspired by those used during the period, reflecting the historical context of the conflict. *_Release Date and Platforms:_* Confirmed for PC, with console versions (PS5/Xbox) currently under consideration.
