Reviewing the V/Line VLocity | Melbourne to Ararat by train

Find out what it's like to travel on the workhorse of Victoria's regional rail network, the VLocity. The V/Line VLocity is a modern diesel multiple unit (DMU), which first entered service in 2005. There are now more than 90 three-car sets in operation with more in production. In this video, I take you on a journey along the scenic line to Ballarat via Bacchus Marsh, before heading across the plains to Ararat. We look at some of the quirks of the route. The section of line between Ballarat and Ararat closed in 1994 when the main Adelaide to Melbourne line was standardised but via a longer route via North Geelong. Passenger services were reintroduced on the broad gauge line to Ararat in 2004.
