Description
Fleeing intense fighting in Al Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, Tayba and her children traveled on foot, with nothing to eat, to Tawila, joining so many others displaced by violence in Sudan.
Hundreds of children arrive in Tawila weak and malnourished, including Tayba's tiny twin daughters. At a UNICEF-supported health center, the little girls received critical nutrition care.
"Their condition was very weak, and very poor," Tayba says. "At the centers, they gave them nutritional [biscuits]. And sometimes they give them milk. Now they are eating and their health has improved."
UNICEF continues to deliver lifesaving integrated nutrition services for children across North Darfur, but the needs are massive.
