She winced at every frantic bark, shrinking further into herself when anyone walked past her kennel. Worse, she was battling painful mammary tumors that weighed her down with every step. No life deserves this. When we first found out about Dahlia, we were shocked that no one had rescued her already. The stressful shelter was no place for a precious girl like this, especially considering her fragile state. The moment we laid eyes on her, we knew we had to save her. It wouldn’t be easy—that much was for certain. But we didn’t care. After everything she had been through, Dahlia deserved a chance. Just after we pulled her, the poor girl exhibited signs of a developing upper respiratory infection. Bordetella (Kennel Cough) spreads like wildfire at the shelter, which can result in life-threatening pneumonia. We didn’t want to take any chances by putting our other rescues at possible risk. We made the decision to isolate Dahlia at our vet. There, she’d receive daily nebulizing treatments and remain under a watchful eye. Thankfully, Dahlia was cleared to return home a few weeks later. She was promptly scheduled for surgery to finally remove her mammary tumors. She also needs a spaying surgery and dental work. We’re relieved she’s okay, but truthfully, we have no clue how we’re going to pay for all of this. The medical bills are mounting thus far, and this doesn’t even include the cost of her upcoming procedure. We really need your help. Please help us give Dahlia the second chance she deserves.
