Description
A worker of bumblebee (Bombus diversus diversus, family Apidae) visiting white flowers of Japanese clethra (aka Japanese sweet shrub, Clethra barbinervis, family Clethraceae) beside a mountain trail to forage for nectar and pollen. You can also see her groom herself to transfer the harvested pollen to the corbiculae (or pollen baskets) on her hindlegs. Captured in the cloudy midmorning (around 10:30 AM) of mid-August 2022 in Japan.
PS: The background noise was from a male cicada (Lyristes japonicus, family Cicadidae) singing monotonously somewhere in the woods.
