$700 Cadillac SRX Wouldn't Start — Fixed It With a $60 Amazon Fuel Pump

I won this 2012 Cadillac SRX Luxury FWD from Insurance Auto Auctions sight unseen for just $700. It was listed as running, but when it arrived it wouldn't start at all. After digging in, I diagnosed a bad fuel pump — and on this SRX it's in a saddle style fuel tank, which makes the job significantly harder than a typical replacement. The OEM GM fuel pump runs about $850, so instead I grabbed a $60 fuel pump off Amazon and hired a mobile mechanic to do the install, who only charged me $120 for the labor.
