Description

Ran out of time sorry this one cuts off at the end, have so much to share. Also follow @oneoceansharks for more about our Shark identification database 🦈 It is so need to get to know them as individuals, have experiences overtime, and to see the differences and similarities in nuanced behavior from one individual to the next. I am so deeply grateful that so many have expressed compassion for Shark ID Roxy ❤️💔🦈 Her suffering shared with the world I hope will serve as a catalyst for charge, for the way we look at and treat sharks. They deserve protection from wasteful killing just as dolphins, whales, turtles, and others do. For far to long few people have spoken up to defend them because of the fictitious portrayal of them in traditional media, and the lack of a deeper understanding of how we can coexist, their importance, and more I hope to continue to help bridge this information and will continue to share more, to speak up for them, and we are so SO GRATEFUL to those here who do the same. Out of sight is “out of mind” for many, so unfortunately, sometimes even well meaning people are inadvertently and accidentally contributing to the wasteful deaths of sharks and many other marine species when they are knowingly support the industrial commercial seafood fishing fleets who damage the ocean and marine life at scale. The impact an industrial fishing vessel makes in a day could be greater than what a small individual more responsible fisherman does in their lifetime, industrial fishing can also harm small scale communities as seen in places like Fiji and west Africa, not to mention many of them have human-rights issues too ie: modern day slavery (I recommend watching ghost fleet film and @seaspiracy to get introduced to some of the many impacts that go mostly unregulated because the death and harm happen offshore out of sight. I haven’t eaten seafood or meat for more than 15+ years because I cut too much fishing gear off marine life, and removed too much. I’ve seen the devastation, and the cruelty but that’s just my personal choice, and I have the luxury of choice that some don’t have. Just sharing info ❤️
