Description
I’ve spent over 30 years in boxing, had 106 fights, many at the highest level, sparred thousands of rounds, years coaching and yet no one ever warned me about this…
It’s about the effects of getting punched in the head.
(Yes, this post is about that BUT don’t worry, at the end of reading this, I’ll show you exactly what to do.)
Here are 4 things you NEED to know
1st
Let me ask ya…
What do you think happens when you get hit in the head from a light punch?
Nothing, right?
Well, that’s wrong.
Even punches you barely feel can still hurt your brain long-term.
It’s like small waves hitting a rock, one wave does nothing
but hundreds and thousands of waves slowly wear the rock down until it’s gone.
Each punch is slowly wearing down your brain
2. Hard hits obviously do more damage.
You know the type, the ones leaving you with a headache.
You might think,
“Oh, I’ll pop a couple of paracetamol and I’m fine”
(exactly what I thought and did)
But here’s the scary thing
It often take years before you notice issues and the damage it’s done
You can get
Memory trouble
Have Mood swings
Speech problems
Balance problems and more
3. Headgear doesn’t fully protect you from this.
It does help, but it won’t completely stop your brain from getting hurt from the impact of the punches .
(That said, I always recommend wearing headgear in sparring)
Now you’re probably thinking,
“TONY, it’s boxing, I’m going to get hit, it’s part of it”
And your right…
If you swim you’ll get wet
Now here’s the great thing:
There are multiple things you can do to keep your brain sharp even after you retire…
Like
- Taking certain supplements
(creatine, fish oils, Vitamins D & B)
- Brain training exercises
- Saunas and hyperbaric chamber
- Journaling (great for memory)
I personally do all of this and more
(I’ll share more about in later posts).
But the MAIN thing is PREVENTION!
Most people spar WRONG and that is causing all these problems
