The Day Krishna Lost His Patience | Bhishma’s Most Fearless Moment

On the ninth day of Kurukshetra, Bhishma Pitamah’s unmatched power, discipline and lifelong vows made him an unstoppable force, leaving even Krishna furious enough to step onto the battlefield. Bhishma’s story began as Devavrat, who took the terrifying vow of lifelong celibacy to secure his father’s happiness, unknowingly fulfilling an ancient curse placed on the Ashta Vasus. Throughout the war he was invincible, until the consequences of his past injustice returned in the form of Amba, reborn as Shikhandi, destined to become the cause of his downfall. On the tenth day, seeing Shikhandi before him, Bhishma laid down his weapons and Arjuna’s arrows pierced his body, placing him upon the legendary bed of arrows where he chose to wait for the arrival of Uttarayan. Bhishma’s vows upheld dharma yet also created the very destruction he tried to prevent, leaving behind the question of whether honoring a promise is worth it when that promise breaks a kingdom.
