Social Capital and Collective Improvisation in Disaster Risk-Sharing

Dr Arif Sadri, Associate Professor in Civil Engineering and Environmental Science at the University of Oklahoma, introduces his upcoming presentation at the Social Capital 2026 Conference in the stream on Community Resilience, Preparedness, and Disaster Recovery. His talk, Social Capital and Collective Improvisation in the Risk-Sharing Commons during Compound Disasters, examines how communities navigate overlapping disasters by mobilising social capital, networks, and shared resources.
