Description

One, two or three Japanese raccoon dogs (Nyctereutes viverrinus, family Canidae) alternately visiting the winter den site, which was formerly the sett of Japanese badgers (Meles anakuma, family Mustelidae), in the snowy secondary forest. One of the two entrances was completely buried under deep snow. As you can see, a Japanese raccoon dog found something to eat under the snow on a rainy midnight (10:22-). Captured from two angles with my new trailcams day and night from late-December 2024 to early-January 2025 in Japan.
