What Escaped From This Engine Block? 💀😂 Most people call this a hole in the engine block, but it's usually a sign that something inside the engine has gone terribly wrong. In many cases, the connecting rod breaks and pops right out of the side of the block, which enthusiasts call rod throw. This can be caused by low oil pressure, over-revving, engine knock, hydrolock, or simply pushing the engine beyond its internal components. Once this happens, the engine doesn't just need minor repairs, but usually requires a major rebuild or complete replacement.
