A Buzzworthy Business in Kenya | A Giving Machine Story

The Giving Machines, sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are vending machines with a twist — instead of buying something for themselves, people can donate a needed item to someone else through a local or international charity. In this case, people donated beehives to a nonprofit that gave them to people in places like Tana River, Kenya. Recipients say training as beekeepers and starting a business selling their honey has helped them become more self-sufficient. The Giving Machine project is part of Light the World, a worldwide movement that encourages people all over the world to join in sharing their light and the light of Jesus Christ with others during the Christmas season.
