Avon Valley freight trains - December 2025

The first train, a standard gauge SCT van and double-stack train, is hauled by Railfirst CF 4428, CSR 011 and SCT 014, combining for a total of almost 12,900 horsepower as they roar upgrade into no. 1 cutting on the Avon Valley route to Northam, Kalgoorlie and the eastern states. About 20 minutes later, at the same location, CBH 005 'Kulyaling' and CBH 009 'Irwin', with a combined 6,600 horsepower beneath their hoods, are seen exiting no. 1 cutting and the Avon Valley route with a loaded narrow gauge grain train bound for Kwinana.
