Description
Arctic Barren Grounds: A 20-Day Journey Across the Arctic Wild (Special Edition) #Arcticadventures #Jimbairdadventurer #Arctic #Outdoors #HoodRiver
Join us as we explore the remote territory of Nunavut, Canada—the only region in the country with no road access at all. Our adventure begins with a float plane ride into the Arctic barren lands. The Hood River, known for its challenging whitewater, is an advanced-level trip that includes tough portages, like an 11-kilometer stretch that could take up to three days to complete. Along the way, we’ll pass by the world’s largest circumpolar waterfall, the tallest north of the Arctic Circle.
As we paddle through this breathtaking wilderness, we hope to encounter tundra grizzlies, polar bears, caribou, muskox, Arctic wolves, and maybe even catch some giant lake trout. This journey will take us through landscapes unlike anything in my previous videos. Ted and I will be dropped off by a float plane, deep in the wild, to start this epic adventure.
The Hood River also has a haunting history. It was named after Robert Hood from Franklin’s first Overland Expedition, a tragic journey where many died of starvation. Hood himself was likely a victim of cannibalism. The river’s rugged beauty and dark past make it a one-of-a-kind destination. Stay tuned for an unforgettable ride through the untamed wilderness of the Arctic Barren Grounds
