The biggest paradox is that while koalas are listed as endangered, and they are protected, their habitat is being destroyed faster every year. You can’t protect koalas and increase their numbers, unless you protect and increase their habitat. The math is simple. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist. In fact, spending money on figuring this out is a waste of money, we all know it! It isn’t the number of koalas there are – it’s the number of trees there are not. Spending money on anything but habitat is a way of lying. It’s so easy to tell the world how much is being done to save koalas by showing hospital buildings, laboratories, and medications. These lies are so often believed, and people think that if we throw more money at this, we will win. All the while, more developments are approved, despite studies, evidence and protests. Ironically, this increases the need for more hospitals, laboratories and medications. Wow, is there a connection??? Why is it that no one seems to want to throw money at protecting huge areas of connected habitat? Now that’s food for thought!
