Description
Perimenopause Part 1/3
Perimenopause is not one thing happening in your body. It's four.
Peri means before, so perimenopause literally means before menopause.🩸And this phase can last upto 10 years. It can start anytime after mind-thirties and go on until early 50s. A lot changes within the body during this time
Progesterone declines first - often before estrogen. This is what causes those early signs no one connects to perimenopause: broken sleep at 3 am, sudden anxiety, heavier periods, feeling anxious but exhausted
Estrogen fluctuates wildly, then falls - this drives hot flashes, brain fog, skin losing its glow, mood swings, joint stiffness, weight collecting around the belly.
Testosterone slowly drops - you feel it as lower libido, less energy, muscle soreness.
Cortisol rises - your stress hormone goes up, exactly at the time your calming hormones are going down. This is why so many women say "I don't recognise myself anymore."
This is why perimenopause feels so confusing. It's not one symptom you can point to. It's your entire hormonal system reorganising itself.
And this is why the answers can't be just one thing either. Sleep, food, herbs, movement, breath, community, all of it matters. All of it works together.
In part 2, I'll share the daily lifestyle shifts that helped me most. Part 3 will cover the yogic practices and Ayurvedic herbs that genuinely made a difference. Stay tuned! ⏰
Save this. Share it with the women you love.
They are not imagining it. And they are not alone.🤷🏻♀️
