You Will Not Believe These Tiny Blue Sailors ‼️😱 These are Velella velella, also called by-the-wind sailors. They are not true jellyfish. They’re actually a floating hydroid colony related to jellyfish, corals, and sea anemones. Their little clear sail catches the wind and pushes them across the ocean surface, which is why huge numbers can suddenly wash up on beaches. And yes, each little “blob” is more than it looks.
