Description
The OCN team is back on the rugged Skeleton Coast, facing the murky, churning waters where entangled seals desperately try to escape. The reality out here is harsh and absolute: if we don’t find these animals and intercept them, they will die. These plastic loops, single-use plastics, and commercial fishing lines create fatal collars that tighten over time. Knowing that we are quite literally their only hope puts immense pressure on our team, but it also drives us to go completely "all in" on every single run.
We are so eager to leave no seal behind that today we even captured a few familiar faces! We ended up netting previously rescued animals whose old healing scars looked exactly like fresh entanglements from a distance. But our philosophy is always "better safe than sorry." We would rather expend the energy catching a healthy, previously saved seal twice than miss a suffering animal even once. It’s an incredible feeling to see our past patients thriving, even if they give us a little extra workout on the rocks!
