You Have to See This‼️😱 This is called coprolite… and yes, that means fossilized poop. Not a joke. Not a weird rock. Actual ancient animal poop that turned to stone over millions of years. What makes it so cool is that coprolites can hold clues about what that animal was eating. Sometimes scientists can find tiny bits of shell, bone, fish scales, or plant material inside them. So this is not just gross science… it is literally a record of ancient life. And here on the Oregon coast, where we find marine fossils from formations like the Astoria Formation and Nye Mudstone, the kinds of coprolites connected to that ancient world would likely come from ocean animals like fish, sharks, and rays.
