Wheel bearing replacement on the VW Golf IV/Bora - Wheel Bearing Generation 2

Wheel bearing damage can appear in different ways. You can often hear the typical rolling or humming noises that can often occur when cornering. There are different causes. Defective seals, for example, allow splash water to penetrate the inside of the wheel bearing. The result is that the grease is flushed out and this creates high friction between the balls or rollers and the bearing rings. The surfaces are therefore damaged and the above-mentioned noises occur. The wheel bearing now requires replacement. However, since there are different designs and therefore different repair methods, there are a few things you should pay attention to. Otherwise you could damage the new wheel bearing during installation. This video shows an example of wheel bearing repair on the non-driven rear axle of a Volkswagen Golf IV/Bora. This wheel bearing unit is the so-called generation 2. So a 2-row angular contact ball bearing with an integrated wheel flange.
