Ontario government announces national energy corridor deal – March 4, 2026

Stephen Lecce, Ontario’s minister of energy and mines, holds a news conference in Toronto to announce a new national energy corridor, an interprovincial-territorial partnership to connect and bolster the country’s electricity systems. Initiated by Ontario, the agreement will bring together British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Yukon, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and the Northwest Territories to advance new electricity projects across Canada. Lecce is joined by Sam Oosterhoff, Ontario associate minister of energy-intensive industries, René Legacy, New Brunswick deputy premier and minister of energy, and Ted Laking, Yukon minister of energy, mines and resources
