With Microsoft ending support for Windows 10, 2025 is set to be the biggest e-waste event in history. An insane amount of capable tech will end up in landfills due to "incompatibility". Even if you bypass the Windows 11 requirements, there's no telling if an update pushed by Microsoft will brick your PC. This is happening at the same time Linux is becoming more mainstream thanks to a passionate community and companies like Valve advancing adoption. There are still limitations, like incompatible anti-cheats in gaming and lack of Microsoft 365 apps which the corporate world runs on, but it's getting much closer for the average person to be able to use without an issue.
