Scary!!! Baby Orangutan's Highest Climb Yet

Baby Maria is on a solo climb and she is getting really high up. Maria has a doting experienced mom who knows when to give her the encouragement and support as she grows in confidence. Maria has been watching her siblings climb and swing around her, now its her turn to learn how to be and expert Orangutan climber ! These moments are so wonderful and beautiful to watch as these magnificent great apes raise their offspring with such care and devotion at the wonderful Chester Zoo Bornean Orangutan Baby Maria was born on 7th October 2025 to Mother Leia and Father Willie Leia is an experienced mother orangutan who has a daughter Dot who lives with her and the rest of the Bornean Orangutans at Chester Zoo endangered newborn baby orangutan Recorded March 2026 Chester Zoo Baby Orangutans Chester Zoo is has a very successful record of Orangutan births at the zoo and most of the Orangutan Mothers are able to rear their own young without the assistance of zoo staff, this is largely due to the expert care and facilities the World Class Zoo provides for the animals. The current animal population have had valuable experience with babies and have observed relatives caring for young, using this learning and experience to enable them to rear their own offspring Birth of critically endangered orangutan at Chester Zoo Bornean Orangutans have been considered critically endangered since 2016 with an only an estimated 100,000 left in the wild.
