Description

When the freezer is full, storing extra food outside is common in the north because during the winter, it's like a giant deep freeze outside. Plastic or wood containers are prone to animals chewing through them, but metal or ice is a better alternative. I used a Tupperware tote lid as a mold to pour water into until it froze. The thicker the ice, the better to deter animals from getting in. A saw and knife can be used to trim the pieces of ice into suitable sizes for the ice cooler, and saliva or water will freeze the pieces of ice together. Snow can be banked to hold everything in place during assembly. This ice cooler will keep food from spoiling and safe from animals and could be used in a wilderness setting if thick ice or mold was available
