“I’ve been driving trucks since the early 80s,” says Gee Goff. He’s up early today, before the sun even, picking up some big boxes of kale. They’re slightly wilted, but still nutritious. Since 2021, Gee and the Fair Food team have rescued more than 3M kgs of food from landfill. They’re one of about 30 food rescue partners Woolworths is working with to reduce in-store food waste down to zero. Gee and the team turn the food they rescue from Woolworths into delicious, healthy meals for people who need them. They’ve provided over 8.5 million meals so far. In an increasingly disrupted world, organisations like Fair Food are working to make Aotearoa a little better every day. This series shines a light on them.
