Dunedin Railways - January 2026 (HD)

After five or so years since the Covid-19 outbreak and many other uncertain factors, Dunedin Railways have beaten the challenges they have faced and are now once again operating regular trains out of Dunedin city! To kick start the New Year period in 2026, they ran a series of their popular 'Taieri Gorge' excursions to Pukerangi and 'Seasider' excursions along the Pacific Ocean to Merton. Operated by a fleet of 1968 Dj class diesel electric locomotives, Dunedin Railways also leases locomotives from the Diesel Traction Group in Christchurch. In this video, we capture cab and lineside footage of 1966 built Di 1102 at the head of a Taieri Gorge excursion. So sit back and enjoy Dunedin Railways hard at work once again, like the good old days prior to Covid-19!
