Day 9 | Khuspang to Saicho – Beneath Laila Peak & Gondogoro Glacier

After conquering Gondogoro La (GGLA) yesterday, today’s trek from Khuspang to Saicho felt comparatively easier—but it was still no walk in the park. Within 30 minutes we reached the mighty Gondogoro Glacier, and an hour later stood beneath the iconic Laila Peak, where a rescue team was preparing to recover the body of an Italian climber suspended on the ropes near its summit. Along the way, we witnessed the raw wilderness of the Karakoram—wild ibex locked in combat, and breathtaking views of Masherbrum, K7, and K6 peaks. After a refreshing lunch break, we braved raging rivers before finally arriving at Saicho camp.
