Description

From the Penken side, the Mayrhofen resort opens one of the most beautiful parts of the Zillertal – a wide, high and very diverse mountain area. Its beating heart is Penkenjoch (around 2095 m), from where the key runs spread out, including access to the most demanding descents. The lift system continues toward Rastkogel (over 2400 m), offering long, sporty slopes with reliable snow and true alpine exposure. On the other side, the area connects with Eggalm above Tux – more raw and distinctly high-mountain in character. On Penken you will also find the Wanglspitz area (around 2420 m) with wide panoramic pistes and the Horberg sector, perfect for dynamic skiing. From many viewpoints you get spectacular panoramas of the Hintertux Glacier and the central Zillertal Alps, giving this terrain a monumental, cinematic atmosphere. Mayrhofen in the Zillertal valley is one of Austria’s most famous ski resorts – combining modern infrastructure, a huge variety of slopes and pure alpine energy. The resort is divided into two main areas: sporty, dynamic Penken and the calmer Ahorn, perfect for wide carving turns and family skiing. The heart of adrenaline is the legendary Harakiri – piste no. 34, considered the steepest prepared slope in Austria (gradient up to 78%). Short but extreme, it’s only for truly advanced skiers and delivers unforgettable adrenaline. Add to that fun parks, fast lifts, perfectly groomed red and blue slopes, and breathtaking panoramas that define the magic of Zillertal. Mayrhofen is a place where technique meets emotion, and skiing becomes pure joy.
