The Union Budget 2026-27 delivers a major boost to mental healthcare in India by announcing NIMHANS-2 in northern India, upgrading key institutions in Ranchi and Tezpur to Regional Apex status, and proposing Emergency & Trauma Care Centres in every district hospital. Building on Tele-MANAS, Ayushman Bharat, and the National Mental Health Programme, these measures bridge regional gaps, expand specialised care, and reinforce infrastructure.
