Description

I'm repotting my two Royal Oak trees (Quercus robur) that I started from acorns 7 years ago. This will be the third repotting of these trees. The parent tree was planted in 1937 to mark the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. An organization founded in London, England, known as "The Men of Trees" acquired 10,000 royal oak acorns and 7,000 saplings to plant across Canada. The acorns and saplings were said to have originated from the New Forest, a royal property in southern England. Some rumours even suggested a few of them might have come from the grounds of Windsor Castle. Very few are still surviving. My trees are the children of this famous Royal Oak!
