Mass exodus - Roads jammed as thousands flee Beirut's southern suburbs amid Israeli airstrikes

Families were seen fleeing the southern suburbs of Beirut on Thursday amid ongoing Israeli airstrikes. Footage shows streets jammed with vehicles, as some were forced to leave on foot, and others were seen sitting with their children on the roadside. The IDF issued evacuation warnings for various neighbourhoods, telling people to "save their lives and evacuate immediately". The army confirmed that it continued to target 'Hezbollah positions' in Lebanon. Israel launched strikes on Lebanon on Monday and continued all this week in the latest escalation of the conflict with Hezbollah - after attacking Iran together with the US. The IDF initially said it was responding to Hezbollah's own cross-border attacks, which the group said were retaliation for the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The US and Israel attacked Iran on Saturday. Tehran said it was responding with strikes on Israel and US assets in the region, with explosions reported in countries right across the Gulf. According to the most recent figures, Iranian media reported over 1200 dead, with six deaths of military personnel admitted by the US side. Khamenei was confirmed dead in a strike on Saturday. It comes after a number of rounds of talks between the Americans and Iranians.
