As the U.S. pours billions into military operations across the Caribbean to seize the former President of Venezuela, and intercept drug shipments, federal agents on the island are stepping up raids against powerful gangs. Galdos joins the Drug Enforcement Administration and Police on high-risk operations in San Juan, where major arrests and drug seizures reveal the scale of the trade. Efforts to stop trafficking are showing signs of deepening the crisis at home. On the streets, people are also battling addiction to fentanyl, a drug far more potent and dangerous than heroin. Outreach workers like Zuleika provide life-saving support to users. We meet young addicts like Eliot, trapped in cycles of dependency, and Tamara, who briefly seeks help but struggles to escape the grip of addiction. While authorities focus on stopping supply, concerns mount that President Trump’s war on drugs in the Caribbean could be having unintended consequences.
