The Truth About the Mount Unzen Video

The iconic shot of Mount Unzen's June 3rd 1991 pyroclastic flow has practically become a staple of the internet, but there's a lot of misconceptions about the video that people are unaware of. Having been researching the disaster for some time now, I wanted to help make a few things clearer. Please be aware that I wasn't there, nor have I been to Shimabara, and I also do not speak Japanese. This is all from my own decade or so of analysing videos, photographs, PDFs and maps.
