Description

*originally recorded on 12-31-25* Signal on the left: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO LED gate lights, and a RECO gate light. Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO LED gate lights, and an NEG LED gate light. As we were getting off of I-565 to get to Belle Mina, @vtgrxrman and I heard over my scanner that there was an eastbound going through Decatur. Figuring that they'd most likely be meeting at Irvington, we decided to race on over to this crossing next after we caught 363. Thankfully, we were able to get here with a few minutes to spare, and here we see our second train of the day: NS 288 with a pair of AC44C6Ms for power. I decided to leave in both 363 and 288 calling the signals at both ends of the passing siding here towards the start of the video, as I thought they were kinda neat to hear. You can also hear a K5HL coming from the CSX S&NA North Subdivision for a southbound intermodal train (I believe), though we had to get onto Covington, TN, so I didn't get a chance to catch that. Since I was last here, NS had replaced the middle gate light on the closer signal with an NEG LED gate light. Amusingly, the gate lights on the far side have also somehow gotten miswired and all flash together now as a result. Thankfully, as you can see, nothing else has changed to this crossing since I last recorded it. https://www.rxrsignals.com/Alabama/A-F/Decatur/Bibb-Garrett/ If you like my videos, feel free to leave me a tip on Ko-Fi!
