The Grace We Forget: Understanding Indulgences

In today’s homily, Fr. Patrick Lynch, MIC reflects on the Church’s teaching on indulgences and how they help us make reparation for the effects of sin. Father Patrick reminds us that the Church, through the mercy of Christ, opens the treasury of grace to help us grow in holiness and assist the souls in Purgatory so that simple acts done with faith and intention — prayer, works of charity, sacrifices, giving up pleasures, and publicly witnessing to Christ — can become opportunities to gain indulgences.
