Welcome to another YachtWay Spotlight.
Pound for pound, is this the best value 35 metre superyacht you can buy? In this Spotlight we go aboard the Ocean Alexander 35P Puro, the boldest design move the Taiwanese builder has made in its history and a genuine statement of intent against the European yards it has refining it’s craft. Puro comes ready and is arriving ready to disrupt.
The Puro name says everything about the brief. Pure yachting. No compromises, no geographical market compromises, no stylistic shortcuts. Designer Giorgio M. Cassetta, the Italian behind superyachts up to 107 metres for Benetti, was handed a blank canvas and told to build something that could compete anywhere in the world. The result is a 34.6 metre trideck with contemporary lines that feel completely fresh for Ocean Alexander, paired with the build quality and ocean-going capability the brand has earned its reputation on over decades.
Twin MAN V12 engines producing 2,000HP each push the 35P to a top speed of 24 knots with a comfortable cruise of 17 knots and a range of over 3,200 nautical miles. That is not a day boat with a long range. That is a genuine bluewater passage maker that happens to look like a Mediterranean superyacht.
On deck a foredeck jacuzzi anchors the bow entertaining area, with a sun deck above and a full beach club at the stern featuring a transformer-style bathing platform that lowers into the water with 1,000 kilograms of capacity for tenders and toys. The sky lounge spans the full beam above the main deck saloon, giving the 35P three distinct indoor living zones across three decks.
Below deck the main deck owner's suite runs full beam with panoramic windows and complete privacy from the guest accommodation on the lower deck. Four additional cabins accommodate up to 10 guests across 5 staterooms. Three crew cabins including the captain's cabin sleep up to 6 crew with independent forward access, keeping the owner's experience completely separate.
This is a 35 metre yacht with the presence of something considerably larger and the range to go almost anywhere in the world without stopping.
