South Africa 7s brought the energy to their home crowd at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town, opening with an incredible win over Fiji before taking down their rivals New Zealand in style, and finally defeating the Great Britain sevens to finish the day 3-0 and qualifying for the semi-finals. Fiji managed to bounce back from their loss to the Blitzboks to win their final two games, joining the hosts in the semi-finals. One the other side of the draw things weren't quite so clear as each of Spain, Argentina and France all recorded 2-1 records. In the end it was Los Pumas and France who managed to round out the semi-finals thanks to a collection of try-scoring bonus points.
