Why Americano Is Called Americano

I recently heard the story behind the Americano and it genuinely shocked me. The idea is that during World War II, Americans in Italy were being served espresso, but since they were used to bigger and weaker coffee, Italians started adding hot water to it. And that’s supposedly how the Americano was born. Funny story, but it also makes perfect sense when you think about what an Americano actually is.
