Historic Championship CanAm & Sportcars at Nürburgring - Porsche 962 C, Lola T310, McLaren M8C

In 2025, among the many races I attended at the 52nd Belmot Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, the "Historic Championship CanAm & Sportcars" category stood out. There weren't many cars: about twenty, from 12 different divisions, but that was precisely the beauty: seeing all the cars together. In a 30-minute sprint race format, historic vehicles such as prototypes and CanAm cars like the McLaren M8C and M8F, Lola T310, and Group C cars like the Porsche 962C took part. But also GT cars and two-seater sports cars built between 1966 and the early 2000s, such as the De Tomaso Mangusta and the Porsche 964 RSR and 996 GT3 RSR. Given the significant difference between them, each car competed to achieve the best result in its class. I have to say that I really appreciated the CanAm cars, rare to see in Europe, with their oversized V8 engines and piercing sound. Enjoy! 😉 Nel 2025, tra le tante gare a cui ho assistito durante il 52° Belmot Oldtimer Grand Prix sul circuito del Nürburgring, mi ha incusiosito la categoria "Historic Championship CanAm & Sportcars". Per la verità, non molte auto: circa una ventina, appartenenti a ben 12 divisioni diverse, ma il bello è stato proprio questo: vedere auto diverse tutte insieme. Con un formato di gare sprint della durata di 30 minuti, prendono parte veicoli storici quali prototipi e CanAm, come McLaren M8C e M8F, Lola T310 e Gruppo C, come Porsche 962C. Ma anche vetture GT ed auto sportive a due posti costruite tra il 1966 e i primi anni 2000 quali la De Tomaso Mangusta e le Porsche 964 RSR e 996 GT3 RSR. Ovviamente, essendo auto con enorme differenza, ognuna gareggia per ottenere il miglior risultato della propria classe. Devo dire che ho davvero apprezzato le vetture CanAm, rare da vedere in Europa, con i loro motori V8 dalle cilindrate esagerate e dal suono penetrante.
