Pearl Mitchell's mission to restore the ocean's living forests

As a researcher with the Deakin Centre For Marine Science, Pearl focuses on Australia’s golden kelp forests, vital yet often overlooked ecosystems along the Great Southern Reef. Her research explores kelp as a foundational species and examines how cold-water reefs support marine life, store carbon and sustain ocean systems.
