For the last five or six seasons, I’ve struggled to grow potatoes successfully here in the subtropics… mostly ending up with rotten potatoes and tiny harvests.
So I went out to visit Geoff to learn a simple little trick he’s been using to successfully grow potatoes in subtropical conditions for the last 15 years.
In this video, Geoff shows us how he plants potatoes to avoid rot, improve airflow, and get much better harvests in wet climates like ours.
Then I head back home to The Weedy Garden to try the method myself.
If you’ve struggled with potatoes rotting in damp soil, humid weather, or subtropical conditions, hopefully this video helps you too.
And with potato planting season beginning across much of Australia right now… it’s the perfect time to give it a go.
Much love,
Weedy
