Finding peace and happiness in nature, organic gardening, homegrown food, garden-to-table cooking, beautiful flower gardens, happy animals, and the simple joys of slow country living are at the heart of everything we share here. Welcome to MerryLand, my little organic sanctuary, where every season brings new blooms, fresh harvests, and quiet moments that nourish both body and soul.
This video begins on a beautiful summer morning, with the gentle sound of the fountain, birds singing in the distance, and my animal family happily roaming the gardens. I begin the day by bringing fresh water to my ducks and geese before spending a peaceful morning tending my greenhouse and vegetable garden.
Knowing heavy rain was on its way, I gathered as much of the garden’s bounty as I could before the first drops fell. My greenhouse rewarded me with eight crisp cucumbers and fresh red amaranth, while the garden provided heirloom purple flat beans, Italian light green squash, Scarlet Runner beans, broad beans, fresh garlic, and colorful farm-fresh eggs. There is something deeply rewarding about harvesting food you have patiently nurtured, then bringing it straight into the kitchen.
Using only freshly harvested organic ingredients, I prepared a simple garden-to-table brunch. Homemade red flatbreads, naturally colored with fresh red amaranth, were served alongside stir-fried Italian light green squash and heirloom purple flat beans, gently cooked with homegrown garlic and a touch of star anise. I also enjoyed wrapping a few tender beans inside the warm flatbread, while crisp cucumber spears, served just as nature grew them, celebrated the pure, refreshing flavors of summer. Most of the vegetables I cook are prepared simply with avocado oil, a little sea salt, fresh homegrown garlic, and occasionally a touch of star anise, allowing the natural flavors of each harvest to shine.
After planting my blueberry bushes last year, gathering the first small harvest felt especially rewarding—a quiet reminder that patience in the garden is always worthwhile.
A brief summer storm brought heavy rain and strong winds, ending the first bloom of my roses. The following day, a gentle misty drizzle settled over the garden, creating a peaceful morning to care for the plants. I wandered slowly through the flower beds, removing spent blooms, guiding climbing vegetables onto their trellises, and tending each corner of the garden. Soon, with sunshine, nourishment, and a little patience, another beautiful wave of roses will bloom again.
One of my favorite moments each day happens in the vegetable garden. Andy, my peacock, is always nearby. As I work among the vegetables, he often opens his magnificent feathers to impress his peahens while they happily enjoy fresh garden greens. Before leaving the garden, I always harvest a few extra greens for everyone, and Andy is always waiting patiently by the gate, knowing it’s time for his favorite treat. Soon my Sebastopol geese appear as well, eagerly waiting for their own happy hour. These simple daily traditions have become some of the most treasured moments in my little organic sanctuary.
As evening approaches, I collect fresh colorful eggs before another peaceful day comes to an end. The gentle sound of the fountain, birds singing in the distance, soft summer rain, blooming gardens, free-roaming animals, and the simple reward of homegrown harvests remind me that true happiness is often found in the quiet moments we choose to slow down and notice.
Thank you so much for spending peaceful days with me here at MerryLand. I hope these quiet moments in nature bring you a little peace, comfort, and inspiration, wherever you are in the world.
With love,
MerryLand ❤️
