Description
Family violence campaigner Rosie Batty's 2015 Australian of the Year speech has been added to the National Sound and Film Archive's collection for its role in shaping the nation's cultural legacy.
Remembering her 11-year-old son Luke, who was murdered by her former partner in 2014 while at cricket practice, Batty said: "He is the reason I have found my voice, and I am able to be heard."
Now, years later, NFSA's chief curator Meagan Loader has said Batty's "moving and emotional" speech has "changed how we talk and think and share stories of family violence".
