Description
From thumb braces to finger pushups. 📈
I’ll let you in on a secret I haven't told many people before: The first time I realized I had to wear those braces... I cried. My confidence was at an absolute zero. I felt like a far cry from the person I used to be, and I had no idea how I was going to get back.
The moment I put those braces on in the gym, I was officially "that injured guy." Everyone could see it.
I went to therapists who told me to stop lifting altogether. They would be horrified if they saw what I’m doing in this video today. But I realized something about them: Most of them didn't even lift. They hadn't overcome their own adversities with injury, so they had no map to show me the way out. They didn't understand me, and they certainly didn't understand why being strong mattered to me.
I decided then that I wasn't going to listen to people who wanted me to stay small.
I eventually sold those thumb braces on Gumtree years ago.
The finger pushups you see here aren't necessary for everyone, but for me, they were a statement. They proved my hands were stronger than ever and gave me permission to finally close the door on that injury and open a new door to a different challenge.
I got here by:
Updating the software: Teaching my brain that load isn't a threat.
Bridging the gap: Moving from "fragile" baselines to robust strength.
Being Aggressively Patient: It took blood, sweat, and literal tears to weather that storm.
If you're 30+ and your body is falling apart, leaving you feeling down and frustrated... just know that there is always a way to improve.
😄 I've seen years of back pain disappear and stay away. 😳 I've seen people go from being afraid of a 20kg bar to deadlifting their own bodyweight. 💪 I've seen people go from "always injured" to strong and confident.
👉 If you can't do it for yourself, do it for the people around you who need you at your best.
