Why are they trying to race to space to deploy AI data centers

Why space is where every AI company would like to go and build data centers. We might see @meta build their AI servers in space to compete against @Google , @amazon and @Microsoft . I am however, concerned with the need to eventually boost these data centers like the space station to keep the in orbit, as well as concerned about the radiation wear. Curious if space AI data centers will be a sustainable alternative to those on Earth that SpaceX is trying to achieve.
